Everybody wants a beautiful smile, but some people may need help having one.

A beautiful smile makes you more confident and attractive to others. But it is more than just about looks. What is also important is having a proper bite. A proper bite will improve your dental health and affect your overall physical health and well-being.

A proper bite requires your teeth and jaw structure to fit together correctly. If they don’t, we refer to this as “malocclusions” or “bad bite.” When this happens, orthodontic treatment may be needed to straighten your teeth.

Malocclusions have traditionally been addressed with braces. If you want to have a beautiful smile at the end of your treatment but are concerned with your appearance during the treatment, Invisalign is a solution.

Invisalign straightens your teeth without any visible apparatus, unlike braces which are highly visible due to the appearance of wires, bands, and brackets. Invisalign uses a series of tight-fitting custom-made clear plastic overlays called “aligners” that slip over the teeth.

Many people requiring full-mouth orthodontic treatment find Invisalign to be an esthetically agreeable solution to treat a wide range of malocclusions. There is no age requirement, but candidates for Invisalign need to have fully erupted permanent teeth.

Invisalign Orthodontic Treatment Procedure

Dr. Leila will give you an examination to determine if Invisalign is appropriate for your dental condition, and if it is, she will prescribe a treatment plan.

The procedure begins using advanced Schick 33 x-rays of your teeth to create a 3-D image of your teeth. That is then used to map out the precise movement of your teeth to make them straight.
Invisalign 3D technology gives us the ability to create a step by step plan from the initial position of your teeth to the final desired position.

Then a series of custom-made clear aligners are created specifically for your teeth that steadily correct the malocclusion.

Each aligner in the series is kept on for around two weeks and then replaced by the next aligner in the series. This continues for 12-18 months until the final position of your teeth is achieved.

The treatment time it takes will be determined by Dr. Leila based on your specific needs and your compliance with keeping the aligners on a minimum of 20 to 22 hours a day.

For Invisalign treatment to be effective you must wear the aligners nearly full-time. The aligners can be taken out so you may eat, drink, brush, and floss easily. Add that to the fact they are clear and virtually undetectable we know you will love Invisalign aligners.

You can straighten your teeth with Invisalign faster with more comfort and predictability than braces. Also, studies show that patients treated with aligners had less plaque and better periodontal health than those wearing braces.

Comprehensive & Limited Invisalign Treatment

Dentistry at The Biltmore offers comprehensive and limited Invisalign treatment.

Comprehensive Invisalign treatment is a full-mouth orthodontic treatment. It includes a coordinated diagnosis and treatment to ensure that you have a tooth and jaw structure that’s anatomically, functionally, and esthetically perfect as possible.

Limited Invisalign treatment has a limited objective, not necessarily involving all your teeth. We can use Invisalign for the only existing problem, or at only one aspect of a larger problem. If a decision is made to defer or forego more comprehensive therapy, you have that alternative.

Comprehensive Invisalign treatment is most often the treatment recommended for children. Adults with only a problem with their lower front teeth, for example, limited Invisalign treatment could be an option.

Based on your main concerns and treatment goals, Dr. Leila will inform you of the benefits and risks of both comprehensive and limited treatment and help you decide which treatment option you wish to undertake.

Benefits of Invisalign

Invisalign offers excellent esthetics, the comfort of wear, ease of use, and superior oral hygiene.

  • Clear aligners are invisible and give the confidence to smile
  • Comfortable – no metal brackets or wires leading to lacerations of the mouth
  • Better oral hygiene as compared to fixed braces
  • Shorter dental appointments
  • More precise treatment duration than braces
  • Fewer trips to the dental chair because patients can replace aligners on their own every few weeks

Vivera Retainers

Teeth that have been aligned, regardless of the orthodontic treatment, whether braces or Invisalign, can gradually start moving back to their original position. Vivera Retainers are a product made by Invisalign that maintain the alignment of your teeth after treatment is complete.

The clear removable retainer is thicker and tougher than the original Invisalign aligners used to straighten your teeth. Instructions on when and for how long to wear it will be given to you by Dr. Leila. Usually, it will be at nights only or a few hours a day.
